Neutering Campaign Update

Cats Protection Bristol Branch have just completed a very successful free neutering campaign during the month of April.

There was a lot of interest and in total we issued vouchers to neuter 102 females and 71 males making a total of 173 cats altogether.

Neutering a cat has many benefits. Male cats are less likely to roam and less likely to fight. They are also less likely to display territorial behaviour such as spraying. Female cats are not going to come into season and call and wail to attract males. They cannot get pregnant and have unwanted litters of kittens. Can we also dispel a couple of ‘urban myths’ that seem to be prevalent in Bristol (and elsewhere!)

1. It is NOT beneficial for a female cat to have ‘just one litter’ before being spayed.

2. Cats WILL breed with their brothers and sisters

So please, please, please get your cat neutered.

If you are a pensioner, student, on benefits or a low wage we may be able to help with the cost of neutering your cat (conditions apply)

For more information or advice on neutering please ring our helpline 0117 9665428 and leave a message or e-mail us at catsprotectionBristol@ovi.com . We will get back to you as soon as we can but please bear in mind we are all volunteers busy with jobs and families so can’t always respond immediately.

Last, but certainly not least, many, many thanks to all our vet practices for their help with this campaign.
